Honey is known as "the food of the gods", a food or drink given by God due to its extraordinary properties. Honey comes from nectar (a sweet liquid found in flowers) collected by worker bees. Bees store honey in their hives as food.
In human history, honey was the first natural sweetener known, even before humans knew about other sweeteners like sugar. Although its full benefits were not as well known as they are today, honey has long been used for various human needs, including as a medicine for various ailments (as a folk remedy).
The history of honey's use is long, stretching back to the ancient Egyptian civilization (the time of the pharaohs) and into the third millennium. In ancient Egypt, honey was used as a remedy for various ailments and even served as a preservative for mummies. It is said that figures such as Julius Caesar and Aristotle also loved honey as a primary drink to maintain their immune systems.
Now, numerous studies have confirmed the many health benefits of honey, and the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration has even designated honey as a type of medicine.
The main nutritional content of honey is carbohydrate compounds such as various simple sugars and water:

A study conducted at the University of Memphis, United States, found that consuming honey after exercise can help the body restore stamina and maintain stable blood sugar levels.
2. Drinking 3 Spoons of Honey is Better Than 1 Liter of Energy Drink
In one study, an experiment was conducted by dividing 39 men and women into three groups who underwent the same heavy weight training. After exercise, the first group was given a protein supplement mixed with sugar-maltodextrin. The second group consumed a protein supplement mixed with complex carbohydrates. Then, the third group received a protein supplement mixed with honey.
The results showed that only the group receiving the protein-honey combination demonstrated optimal blood sugar levels two hours after exercise. Members of this group also showed higher levels of hormones that aid in muscle recovery.
3. Honey as an Appetite Stimulator
The benefits of honey for children are extraordinary. Regularly giving honey to children daily can reduce morbidity rates (fever and colds) and increase appetite in toddlers.
Based on research at the International Holistic Tourist Hospital on children with immune-compromised children with poor appetites, after 1 to 2 weeks of giving honey (royal jelly honey) at a dose of 2 tablespoons in the morning and 2 tablespoons at night, remarkable changes were observed. The children's appetites began to increase, and their immune systems also began to improve. 4. Honey as a prebiotic

- The compound 10-hydroxydecene-2-oic acid is a potent antibacterial compound found in the royal jelly in honey.
5. Honey as an Antibacterial
Honey can be used as a wound treatment. One study found that people who used half the amount of honey in a wound dressing healed a quarter of the time compared to those who only used standard treatment.
According to Mark Stengler, honey has a natural anti-inflammatory effect, which promotes faster wound healing. Furthermore, honey contains phytochemicals (chemical substances found in various plants and foods) that can kill viruses, bacteria, and fungi.
In 1998, a study was conducted in India to determine the effect of honey on treating burns. The study involved two groups of 52 burn patients.
A total of 52 burn patients in the first group received honey as a treatment, while 52 patients in the second group were given sulfadiazine. As a result, 87% of the honey group recovered within 15 days, while only 10% of the second group receiving sulfadiazine recovered within the same timeframe.
Honey has long been believed to be an antibiotic. Research at the University of Waikoto, Hamilton, New Zealand, has proven that honey contains highly effective antibiotics to ward off bacterial attacks.
Many infections can be treated and prevented by regularly consuming honey, including gastrointestinal diseases, skin diseases, coughs, colds and respiratory infections, fevers, liver problems, and many others.
